AutoStore is a Norwegian automatic storage system based on robotic technology. It offers high-density storage and provides a highly efficient order fulfillment solution. It reduces the required storage space by up to 75%, thus increasing the storage capacity and productivity of companies.
How does it work
It consists of individual containers, which are placed side by side and stacked into stacks. The robots then lower their gripping plates into the stacks and pull the containers onto the surface grid. If the robot needs a container from the bottom of the stack, it pulls the containers above it and places them on top of another stack, then it stacks them back in the same order. Less used containers thus automatically reach the bottom and the whole system adapts to the current needs of each company.
The system uses durable materials and is very smooth. It is designed so that no element can endanger the whole system. The robots constantly self-diagnosing the individual parts and send the data back to the system, which alerts you that the maintenance is needed. Except for the moving parts, the robots are able to repair themselves. Robots also don’t need light for their work and consume very little energy. Because AutoStore doesn´t need a human to run and saves space, it saves on cooling, heating or lighting costs.
